Enjoy an exclusive talk from Andrew Graham-Dixon, visit several art museums and explore pretty villages on the Cote d’Azur

The south of France has been a haven for artists for generations. Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, and Van Gogh led the way, with Matisse arriving in Nice in 1917, soon joined by his friend and rival Picasso on the exquisite Côte d'Azur.

Find out what these artists found so inspiring about this heavenly corner of Europe on this five-day tour with Telegraph art critic Andrew Graham Dixon. Andrew will share his profound knowledge during the trip, including during a special after-dinner lecture on your first night.

You'll be based in a four-star hotel in Nice, perfectly located to explore the artistic delights of the region and to discover some of the city's excellent eateries, from Michelin-starred restaurants to cosy bistros.

Your tour begins with a visit to the pretty medieval town of St-Paul-de-Vence and the Maeght Foundation, where you'll see a stunning collection of works by Picasso, Miró and others.

Other highlights of the tour include a visit to the Museé Marc Chagall and the Museé Matisse, where you can enjoy the talents of these two renowned artists.

An afternoon in Antibes allows you to travel in the footsteps of Picasso, who once had a studio in the 14th-century Chateau Grimaldi. The works he created while staying here in Antibes are on display at the Museé Picasso, which you'll also visit.

As you travel around the South of France, you'll see some delightful villages, gardens and villas, including the Romanesque church in Villefranche-sur-mer and the magnificent pink Villa Ephrussi overlooking the Bay of Villefranche.
