Find out more about Jane Austen’s life and the locations that inspired her on this tour with Austen expert Lucy
2025 marks Jane Austen's 250th birthday, take a step back in
time to Regency England and explore the locations that inspired
many of her best-loved novels with historian Lucy Worsley. Lucy is
an Austen expert, having written a biography of the novelist, and
will share her knowledge with you during a fascinating talk and a
walking tour of the city.
You'll visit Jane Austen's House in Chawton, Hampshire, as well
as Chawton House, once owned by Austen's brother, Edward and visit
two filming locations from adaptations of Pride And Prejudice, the
village of Lacock and Wilton House.
A highlight will be a visit to the Jane Austen Centre, where
guides in period costumes are ready to tell you more about the
author's connections to the city.
After your tour, look forward to a cruise up the River Avon,
passing under the historic Pulteney Bridge and out into the
beautiful Avon Valley.
Note: Please be advised that due to the
availability of Basildon Park, we have had to make a change to the
visit on the final day. We shall now visit Wilton House near
Salisbury, which has been one of the filming locations featured in
the film adaptations of Emma and Pride and Prejudice.
