Embark MS Fridtjof Nansen or MS Amundsen, as you go on the cruise of a lifetime - to the white continent, Antarctica. Jaw-dropping scenery and wonderful wildlife await, as you sail to this icy wilderness, and enjoy landings with an expert expedition team.

Your adventure will begin in Buenos Aires, where you'll have a day to explore the 'Paris of South America', before cruising to Ushuaia, in Tierra Del Fuego - Argentina's southern-most province, often referred to as the 'end of the world'.

Due to the treacherous conditions of Antarctica, every landing is different and your expedition team will tailor your excursions based upon the conditions, but you can look forward to landings and ice cruises, kayaking among the icebergs, and of course, wildlife spotting.

While at sea, you can enjoy insightful lectures from your expedition team, visit the Science Centre, relax in one of the hot tubs or infinity pool, or seek solitude in the on board library.

    Your trip begins with a day in Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina. Home to a proud and diverse community of porteños, or 'people of the port', the city blends faded European splendour and Latin American panache.

    There are seemingly endless places to explore in the city, including the many parrillas serving deliciously authentic Argentine steak. You might choose to practise your dance moves in the famous hometown of tango, or simply sit back with a glass of Malbec and watch the experts perform.

    Ushuaia
    Ushuaia, Argentina

    Your Antarctic adventure begins with an early morning flight to Ushuaia. This bustling port is the capital of Argentina's Tierra del Fuego province. Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Martial Glacier, Ushuaia vies for the title of the world's southernmost city.

    It's here that you'll board your home for the week, the hybrid-powered expedition ship, MS Fridtjof Nansen or MS Amundsen, specially designed for exploring polar waters.

    After a briefing from your expert, English-speaking expedition team, you'll have time to settle into your cabin and explore the comforts and amenities on board. Later, you'll join your expedition team and fellow adventurers for a welcome dinner.

    4-5
    Crossing the Drake Passage
    Drake Passage, Antarctica

    On the two-day crossing through the Drake Passage, the expedition team will equip you with all you need to make the most of your polar expedition.

    There's plenty to keep you busy while at sea. You can spend time in the onboard Science Centre and listen to experts talk passionately about Antarctica's history, the science beneath the ice, and the impact of climate change.

    There's also plenty of time to relax and meet your fellow adventurers. You might head to the pool for an invigorating swim or to the spa for an indulgent treatment. And make sure to look out for icebergs, whales and albatrosses as you sail.

    6-10
    Antarctica
    Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica

    After two days at sea, you'll arrive on the white continent. Surrounded by looming glaciers and icebergs the size of floating cathedrals, Antarctica will fill you with wonder.

    Whales begin to arrive in greater numbers by December and January. This is also when the first penguin chicks hatch and seeing the clumsy clumps of feathers run around is always a charming sight. February and March are the peak of whale-watching opportunities, when large amounts of krill lure them to the area.

    You'll join the expedition team on landings and ice cruises, all included as part of your expedition. If weather conditions allow, you may even get a chance to go kayaking among the icebergs. Back on board, the expedition team will continue their lectures, helping you grow your knowledge of the frozen continent.

    Over five magical days, you'll experience this other-worldly place in a way that will stay with you for a lifetime.

    Crossing the Drake Passage

    As your exhilarating Antarctic adventure comes to an end, you'll have time to learn more about the continent and recuperate as you cross the Drake Passage back to Ushuaia. If you have more questions about what you've seen, head to the Science Centre, where the expedition team will be ready to chat about your experiences.

    A trip to the onboard gym and sauna may help you to relax after an adrenaline-filled few days.

    Today, you'll arrive back in Ushuaia, where your expedition draws to a close. From here, you'll take your charter flight back to Buenos Aires. As you leave this beautiful region behind, you'll take lasting memories of everything you've seen and done, the importance of these precious habitats, and the positive experiences of sustainable expedition travel. If you're not ready for the adventure to end just yet, we recommend a visit to the magnificent Iguazu Falls with our optional Post-Programme.
