Visit filming locations associated with Bergerac, Enemy at the Door and other classic British cinema in the company of The Footage Detectives, Noel Cronin BEM & Mike Read

Join an exclusive cinematic tour of the Channel Islands, as you visit key locations from classic British television. During this five-night journey through Jersey, Guernsey and Sark, you'll wander the familiar streets and harbours of Bergerac to the wartime landscapes immortalised in Enemy at the Door. Join The Footage Detectives and step into the screen to experience the places behind some of Britain's most-loved productions.

Your tour begins in Jersey, where the picturesque harbour of St Aubin sets the scene. Wander the waterfront before dinner at The Old Court House - the real-life location that viewers will recognise as Bergerac's much-loved "Royal Barge". You'll also explore Jersey's dramatic coastline, historic castles and wartime sites, uncovering the stories and locations that have made the island such a memorable setting for film and television.

Take the ferry crossing to Guernsey and delve deeper into the islands' extraordinary wartime history, visiting the German Underground Hospital, German Naval Signals HQ and historic Castle Cornet. Along the way, discover the locations and landscapes associated with Enemy at the Door, bringing the series and the experiences that inspired it vividly to life.

There's also time to experience the timeless beauty of Sark, where cars are banned and horse-drawn carriages offer a wonderfully nostalgic way to explore the island. With its unspoilt scenery and old-world atmosphere, Sark has provided a captivating setting for cinema, including the classic British film Appointment with Venus.

Throughout your journey, exclusive evening Talking Pictures events with The Footage Detectives will reveal more of the islands' fascinating screen heritage. From iconic television locations and classic cinema connections to spectacular coastal scenery and compelling wartime history, this is a unique opportunity to see the Channel Islands in a unique way.

Itinerary

  1. Day
    1
    Arrive in Jersey
    Saint Helier, Jersey

Fly from London Heathrow to Jersey, where you will be met and transferred to the Best Western Royal Hotel in St Helier, with time to settle in and relax. Later this afternoon, step straight into the world of classic television as you travel to the picturesque harbour village of St Aubin, instantly recognisable to fans of Bergerac. Wander the idyllic waterfront before enjoying a three-course dinner at The Old Court House - forever remembered by viewers as Bergerac's beloved "Royal Barge". As evening falls across the harbour, it is easy to see why Jersey became such an iconic television setting throughout the 1980s.

  2. Day
    2
    Explore Jersey
    Saint Ouen, United Kingdom

After breakfast today, you'll explore Jersey's dramatic west coast, where rugged scenery, wartime history, and classic television locations combine to bring the island's screen heritage vividly to life. Your first stop is Grosnez Castle, the atmospheric ruins of a 14th-century fortress perched high above the coastline, offering panoramic views across the Channel Islands. The wild landscapes here have long provided the perfect backdrop for film and television productions alike.

Continuing into St Ouen's Bay, visit the fascinating Channel Islands Military Museum, housed within an original wartime bunker. Displays of German and civilian memorabilia offer a powerful insight into life in Jersey during the occupation years - a period that has inspired generations of filmmakers and television producers. Following the sweeping coastline, pass La Rocco Tower, instantly recognisable as the setting for one of Bergerac's most iconic publicity images, before continuing to La Pulente where keen-eyed viewers will recognise the beachside building used as "The Jersey Club" in the series.

Return to St Helier to enjoy an afternoon at leisure, before a group dinner this evening.

  3. Day
    3
    Gorey
    Saint Helier, United Kingdom

After breakfast this morning, travel to Gorey for a visit to the magnificent Mont Orgueil Castle, one of Jersey's most striking historic landmarks and a familiar backdrop throughout the original Bergerac series. Towering above the harbour, the castle has watched over the island for more than 800 years and offers spectacular views stretching towards the French coast on a clear day.

After time to explore Gorey's charming harbour, with its cafés, bars, and traditional seaside atmosphere, continue to the harbour for your afternoon ferry crossing to Guernsey - another island steeped in wartime history and nostalgic screen connections.

On arrival, transfer to the Pandora Hotel for your stay in Guernsey and enjoy a group dinner this evening.

  4. Day
    4
    Full-day excursion to Sark
    Sark, United Kingdom

After breakfast this morning, experience the timeless charm of Sark on a wonderful full-day excursion from Guernsey. After a scenic ferry crossing through the sparkling waters of the Channel Islands, arrive on Sark, a truly unique island where cars are banned and life moves at a gentler pace.

Sark's unspoilt landscapes and old-world atmosphere have long attracted filmmakers, most famously serving as a location for the classic British film Appointment with Venus starring David Niven.

On arrival, enjoy a leisurely two-hour horse-drawn carriage tour, taking in dramatic cliff-top scenery, peaceful wooded valleys, and winding lanes seemingly untouched by time. Along the way, your guide will share stories of Sark's history, traditions, and cinematic connections, bringing the island's unique character vividly to life.

There will also be free time to explore at your own pace, perhaps enjoying lunch in one of Sark's welcoming cafés (not included) or simply soaking up the wonderfully nostalgic atmosphere before returning to Guernsey later this afternoon. Enjoy a group dinner this evening.

  5. Day
    5
    Explore Guernsey
    Saint Peter Port, Guernsey

After breakfast this morning, join your local guide for a fascinating exploration of Guernsey's wartime history and screen heritage. This tour brings to life the dramatic years of German occupation so memorably portrayed in the classic television series Enemy at the Door.

Visit the remarkable German Underground Hospital, an extraordinary network of tunnels built during the occupation, where the atmosphere of wartime Guernsey remains almost tangible. Continue to historic Castle Cornet, which has guarded the harbour of St Peter Port for more than 800 years and has featured in countless newsreels, documentaries, and archival footage of the islands.

Following time at leisure for lunch (not included), this afternoon you'll visit the German Naval Signals HQ, providing further insight into Guernsey's strategic importance during the Second World War and the real-life experiences that inspired so much classic wartime television drama.

This evening, enjoy a three-course dinner at Christies Brasserie (excluding drinks) before returning to the hotel.

  6. Day
